Who are these courses for?
Lorna’s 12-week practical online Introductory and Intermediate courses are for students who wish to achieve a skill that counts towards their Bronze, Silver or Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. They’re also ideal for any young person heading off to university, taking a gap year or embarking on a first-flat share, or who just wants to learn to cook for pleasure.

Why learn to cook online?
Being able to do one of Lorna’s courses in your own time and your own home is a real bonus – especially if you have assignments, revision or exams to contend with. You’ll provide the ingredients and equipment, and we’ll support you from start to finish with recipes, techniques and tips, including videos to watch and articles to read. You can call, email, message or Skype us whenever you need help or encouragement.

What will I be taught to cook?
Great British staples, comforting Mediterranean food and aromatic Asian dishes all feature, as do delicious vegetarian options, plus cakes and desserts, as you’ll see from the curriculum for the Introductory and Intermediate courses below.

How do the DofE online cookery courses work?
Every week, you’ll send us, via WhatsApp, a few photos of the dishes you’ve cooked, with brief comments, and we’ll assess them and offer advice. When you’ve completed the course, we’ll upload a final report to your eDofE account.

Can I do DofE online cookery courses with a friend?
Yes – cooking together can be great fun. Just make sure you both book your place or only one of you can be assessed.

When does each course begin?
On any date that suits you throughout the year.

Where will I find the recipes?
As soon as you’ve booked, you’ll be able to access the course online. You can then download the recipes either to your phone or tablet, or, if you want to print them off, to your computer.

How do I get started?
Once you’ve returned the booking form to Lorna, she’ll connect with you via WhatsApp so you can send her photos of your culinary creations whenever you’re ready.

What does it cost?
£150
